Staying Safe

The Harrow Potter Studio will be doing its best to safeguard both students and staff alike, since health and safety is paramount and has therefore introduced a series of Covid safety measures for the classes, however student's participation would be required.

The guidelines are as follows:

  • Antibacterial/viral sanitising liquids and wipes will be placed at the entrance of the studio and available for students when they arrive and throughout the session.

  • Students will be encouraged to either work on the pottery wheels or at the hand-building stations for the duration of the sessions, as this will create a natural social distancing mechanism.

  • Students are expected to thoroughly clean up the area/ tools/pottery wheels/ equipment after use and at every session.

  • Students are advised to bring their own labelled tools/aprons and hand towels, however the studio will still have some of these items available.

  • Students will be encouraged to bring in their own tea/coffee/biscuits as well as their cups/spoons and water if they wish to have some refreshments, but The Harrow Potter will have some limited refreshments available.

  • The door to the front entrance and window at the back of the studio will be kept open when possible in order to increase air flow, however this will only be applicable when the weather is warm enough, since an ambient temperature and decreased noise will be required for the functioning of the studio.

  • The studio will provide vinyl rubber gloves for glazing/hand building and throwing, however students will be advised to bring their own.

  • There will be the customary burning of lemongrass incense throughout the studio which will help to sanitise the atmosphere.

  • All unused clay will need to be placed back in their respective recycled buckets in order to ensure non cross contamination.

  • Face masks can be worn through the duration of the class but this will be optional

  • There will be additional general cleaning of the studio after each session to enhance covid-19 safety measures and those using the pottery wheels will be required to start cleaning up at least 15 minutes before the class ends, in order to avoid congestion at the sink areas.

It’s your turn on the wheel.
